Man, listen to me. Home theater in a box isn't that great of a deal. The main units are usually not good DVD players OR recievers and amplifiers. They typically don't have the proper connections that a person with state-of-the-art HD components needs. Bose sound nice, but a lot of what you pay for is the looks and mostly the brand name.
If you have the room, I would look at component systems. You already have a DVD player, so you don't need a HTiB that has one built in. Go to Best Buy, look at spending about $200 on a reciever. This should have surround sound capabilities and the digital audio attachments on the back. Then, go over to their speaker section. I bought a sony set for $300 that included five speakers and a powered subwoofer. The speakers themselves are not much bigger than a bose speaker. You can buy the speakers individually, or just buy two pairs of speakers and a center speaker. I would not skip out on a subwoofer unless you live in an apartment and have pissy neighbors.
The benefit of a component system is that if one component goes down, all you have to do is replace that component, not the whole system, as you sometimes have to do with a HTiB system.

I too have a Sony Wega TV. They are a great buy and quality.
If you want a nice Home theatre sound on that budget look no further than a Hometheatre is a box system (HTiB).
The system usualy includes 5 disk DVD/ CD player/ which is used as a receiver as well. So all your components can be going to a singe spot.
Almost always 5 satelite speakers are included plus a subwoofer. Do not be fooled by their small size. These units can but out some impressive sound quality and power! Speakers included are front right, front left, center, rear left, and rear right + subwoofer. This make a great setup if you have limited space and/or are on a budget.
I live in a dorm room and have a Sony model of the HomeTheatre in a Box system. My system is the envy of the hall! It is so awesome. I would recommend going to Best Buy or Circuit City and checking out these units. The best place to buy will probably be the net. Just figure out which model you would like then do some online comparrison shopping online.
Best of luck with your system!

I shop a lot and to save time and money I use cheapest prices search engine. Almost every merchant is there and over a million consumer written reviews. You will find many other ways that will help you with questions.
You can shop online or you can go to a merchant and use the toll free phone number if you feel more comfortable shopping like that.
There are merchant reviews, over one million product reviews, compare by brand and a lot more. I hope I helped you and I wish you good luck.

My advice is to go to a site like crutchfield.com and compare some systems within your budget.
Once you have narrowed your search down to a few Home Theatre systems, you can go to nextag.com and compare the prices at several online merchants.
Additional advice ... buy from a seller with good ratings!!
