You should buy a tv with a digital tuner because the analog stations are going to be phased out. After they are phased out the only things you will be able to do with an older tv is watch vcr/dvd/sat and maybe cable with a converter box. But if all you do is watch tv with an antenna you won't be able to anymore

Actually the only things you will be able to do with your TV are DVD, VCR, Game System, Satellite, Digital Cable, or plain cable. Another words, anything except over the air signals. Now most new TVs come with digital tuners anyway, so its not like you have to worry anyway, but just to make things clear, the only way this analog switch off affects you is if you get your signals over-the-air through an antenna. ANYTHING else, and you don't have to worry.

in fact sure, you need to purchase television able to digital with out any upload-ons. even with the reality that pondering their prices immediately you need to purchase a Freeview container(£20) and a common 15" (£50) each and every 12 months and be saving money for the subsequent 5 years. I listen alot that you want a 'new' aerial for digital because the old one's received't cope, it truly is only a load of tosh. at the same time as going for free-view we had 2 television's upstairs, did not favor to drill more effective than 2 holes, did not favor to percentage one aerial, so I dragged an old aerial a minimum of two decades old caked with rust, re-stressed it and it somewhat works 100%. can't say fairer then that.

As long as your new television has a ATSC tuner you will be fine. Preferably you should get one with both NTSC (analog) and ATSC (digital), that way you have all bases covered.
