As a foreigner who immigrated here almost 12 years ago now (time flies) I completely agree with you, spot on. I would never demand any of the things that some of these people claim (like last night I saw on the news a stop smoking service in turkish for turks that live here - how very ridiculous). I don't want any churches built to honour whoever I worship and I have fully accepted the culture here. If I didn't like it here then I would have buggered off by now, wouldn't I? Immigrating to somewhere is about living in that country and accepting the customs and culture there. What's the point if all you want to create is a mini version of the country where you are from? Then stay there!

Being of English, Irish and Scottish descent, I hear you loud and clear. It is not wrong to be proud of who you are and where you come from. There is nothing wrong with wanting to fly the flag as a form of respect to those who lived and died fighting for the rights of the British. The Irish have flown the flag for years, never wanting the memories of those who fought for freedom to die......But ask yourself this......
How much bloodshed? Who is right and who is wrong and what started it all has been drowned in the blood lost by so many. It is no bad thing to look forward to the future instead of clinging to the past.
Music is great, it has no social, cultural, religious or language barriers. We all love to hear different types from different places. We appreciate all the variety that is on offer and use it to develop our own understanding of music itself. It would be lovely if ALL people had the same attitude to ALL things, I have realised some cultures are very backward and narrow minded for lots of reasons, we would become much more civilized and even more inteligent.
I am not liberal, I love to learn, there is so much the world has to offer my ever questioning mind. As long as it remains open there will always be new information to take in.

People are people, not citizens of a Country, large or small, and it's this isolation, "we are the best" attitude that creates wars.
As to your comments that this is not racism or Christian right wing thinking, which by the way has nothing to with an 'all my people' God, that is just what it is racism.
Lately the BNP have used Christian theology to push their issue, dumb thinking as it is, seeing that ill educated clutter heads like you, the new Rule Britannia' brigade, to exploit the need of the mad for a voice on issues.
Like all little racists and right wing fanatics, Country is all my ar se, you rant and rave because you cannot or will not adapt, yet you ask others to do just that.

I thought "God save the Queen" was the national motto.
I know "In God We Trust" was put on my American money after WW2.
I agree though a country should not have to change its culture just because some dip moved to it...the one who moves to the country should adapt.
America has this issue as well. Some dip in Florida who was Muslim so needed to wear veil on her license.."F U take it off so we can get a pic or no car for you" is what should have been said. In Florida as well we have a very large Cuban population who wants to make the state more and more Cuban....if you want things Cuban then go back to Cuba!
To those who move to another country and adapt to the country's ways while still retaining your own identity I give my praise and thanks...to people who want me to change because they moved next door I give you my middle finger raised high

Here Here.... Although no doubt the ethical police will be on you once again 'no doubt starting with some imigrant muslin' stating that they are getting the blame for this and that and... OH SHUT UP... like it lump it or f*ck off and go back to your own dam country...
In fact that applies to all imigrants... you know you have more privledges in our country than we do.... so stop whining all the time and either feel gratefull and lucky or p*ss off somewhere else...

Polite, to the point, and echoing the sentiments of a vast number of people in this country.
Now I ask you - what would happen if you emmigrated to Iraq or Afghanistan or any other country for that matter and started getting people to blow themselves up because the country you were in was not British enough or Christian enough?

"In god we trust" is not Britain's national motto, it's the inscription on US currency. There's an appreciable difference.
