Not only would larger toilets occupy more revenue-generating space, it would also add weight to the airplane. Weight is the enemy of an airplane, the more you add, the less you can carry. You wouldn't think that adding 200 lbs to make the toilet a little large would affect airplane that much, but using the FAA standard weight of 180 pounds, that's nearly one less person you can take.
Multiply that by two or three lavatories that are on most planes(and up to 7 or so on a wide-body like the 777 or A330) and it really cuts into payload capabilities.

Toilets cannot be made bigger than they are.. They need to be designed to fit in the fuselage of the aircraft in such a way that they dont block up many seats. They usually are either in the forward of the cabin or the rear in mid sized jets. If you were an airline im sure you wouldnt want to loose 2 or 3 seats just for a bigger toilet. The seats get them money not a bigger toilet.

Simple economics. Toilets take up space. Space that doesn't generate revenue. Many of the new wide-body jets (777 & A340 for example) have at least one handicapped toilet that has a LOT of extra room in it. Easily room for two. Comfortably. The Mile-High Club has never been easier to join. ;)

The bowl is a pleasantly comfortable extra healthful yet your knees are on your ears at the same time as peeing. I were given off on a sideroad the following, did not I?

If they were made larger and more luxurious, people would try to stay in there for the entire flight rather than return to their cramped little middle seat in row 23. They'd take laptops in there, do jumping jacks, runs in place, primp for hours etc. Sad, but true.

Space on airplanes is pretty expensive. They try to put as many people in there as possible; larger restroom = one less seat. One less seat is one less fare sold, not just once but on every trip (okay not *every* trip is sold out but often anyways). Thus, small restrooms!

because the plane isn't that big and the toilets are proportional to the size. i mean look at the seats. its not exactly a comfort based design.
