The rise of a middle class. With the incredible increase in economic growth, the Peoples Republic of China leadership will have to find a way to placate the growing middle class in the coastal provinces while at the same time accomodate the less wealthy in the interior provinces.
Will be a tough decision for a Communist leadership.

Pollution. They need to clean up the environment because it is becoming toxic in many places. There is a lot of air pollution that leaves many cities without a single day of blue skies. There is raw sewage and other chemicals dumped into the water which is killing wildlife and harming the people. There is a lot of trash just thrown wherever and that is stuff that takes forever to break down.

Capitalism Poisoning.
With the liberation from hard core communism, just about everybody's mind is on "making money". From conglomerates to mom & pop shops. So much so that there are no ethics or conscience in many people. From fake products, sub-standard products, poisoned seafood and farm produce, problem livestock, yada yada. You name it, they'll or have done it. Anything for $$$$$. Sigh.....
Corruption
I suppose all developing countries goes throught the same phases and stages??

Social values are all twisted in the current working generation. And I see it will be worse for the next working generation. There is no sense of right or wrong. The funny thing is, not everything is grey. The scary part is, they can make white to black, and black to white.

Poverty. The Chinese have a strict one child only policy that includes forced abortions. There are still many rural areas which haven't gotten any benefit from the economic boom in the urban areas.
