Before you get in your bed, walk your dog over to his bed and give him a treat (such as a pig's ear/snout/dried liver etc) so he will associate the bed with a good experience. After that, IGNORE HIM. If he gets up, looks at you, whines at you... ignore him. Do not give him attention for bad behaviour as no matter what attention you give him (yelling, picking him up etc) it will reinforce the pups behaviour.
Do not fall for the cute face! Trust me when I say dogs do not think like people. Your dog does not think that you love him any less for making him sleep on his own bed, he just knows how to get his own way! He has worked out that by looking at you like that etc he will be put on your bed... you are reinforcing his bad (or opposite to what you want) behaviour.

Give him food treats and place good stuff like chicken bits or cheese on his bed for the next few weeks.
He will soon see his bed as a great place - full of treats.
Stroke the dog on his bed and also move his bed to another part of the room. You did nothing wrong. Don't give yourself a hard time.

well, by telling your dog originally to go to it's bed when it was bad. It thinks that it's bed is a "time out" or go the the corner space. You might want to get another bed as already suggested. also you can try playing with him in his bed so that it starts to have fun memories. and give it treats in its bed so that it has some good memories of that space. you could also try getting a kennel and use that as it's fun/sleep space. then it has it's own space to go to when it is overwhelmed. try to think of another area to send the pup when it has done something wrong. even make it lie down at your feet and stay put.

i m italian so maybe my english is not that good.I studied behaviour of dogs.
Dogs associate situations..Let me explain it better...example..IF u put him to sleep in his own bed when he was naughty as a punishment he will always associate the Bed to "punishment" and he ll never understand that it s cause u changed ur mind about the fact that he can sleep with u in the past but not now.
Specially when a dog is a pup is formatting his brain and is more difficult to make him understand.
ur dog now is traumatized about to sleep in his own bed.
My advise is...let him sleep on ur bed or in another place different that his own bed.
Dont forget dogs have a brain of 4 years boy..they can learn up to 200 words and they re very sensitive like human. They can even feel depressed and sad and in the worst case they need even a specialized trainer to fix their problems.
Beside dont hit him when is bad cause dogs dont understand hits...when a dog is beaten he start to get angry inside and eventually he can even start to bite his own owner. He ll do it not cause his crazy but cause is scared and traumatized of the beats received...hope i was clear with my english:) good luck and enjoy ur dog...his lov 4 u is tresure

You need to be firm and make sure he sleeps in his own bed, even if he gives you the "what did i do wrong" look. If you give in to him, he will take advantage of your softy heart. Remember, you're the dog's master, not the other way round. So while you should treat it well, you must not let a dog own your life.
Take care!

,www, well, why don't you sit next to the dog at night in the dogs bed. Stroking him and praising him,Till he sleeps then quietly go and sleep in your bed. do this for a few nights. and he will realize that you love him even when you want him to sleep in his own bed.

WHY are you dropping time on-line? Get off the internet and talk to THE VET. Your doggy ought to have some thing a real, respected breeder ought to comprehend as fading doggy syndrome. when you're there, spay your dogs. because of this the favored puppy proprietor shouldn't breed.

dogs are pack animals and now that you put him out he thinks you are pushing him out of the pack. Using some gentle reinforcement may help ..put him in his bed and play a bit tell him hes a good boy and be consisitent.

I know it's tough. Just re-train him using new words, and always use a really sweet tone of voice. Remember, dogs respond more to the tone of your voice than the words you are actually saying.
Good Luck
