It depends on the structure and beleifs of the family. If they are a religious family or more "traditional" then the head of the family should be the man. Also, the family name usually comes from the man, so that implies that he is the one taking most of the responsibility.
However, if the family is not religious and the man is not the main breadwinner, then I think the woman should be considered as the head of the home. Whoever is the most responsible, mature, able to make important decisions should be the "head" of the house. Usually that is the man, but I know many brilliant women who would be the head of my house if I married them. By the way, I am choosing a very religious, much younger, submissive woman to marry. lol
Cheers,
Roger

It says in the bible", a husband is the head of the household, he
must also treat his wife right, and love her as he would love
himself". " And the higher authority of the husband is, GOD."
So, the man goes out and hunts and gathers food, etc. to bring
to the wife, who in turn makes a "home" for him and their kids.
It's caveman talk..but things have changed so much these days.
As long as both parties are happy with their arrangement, then
good for them. That's all that really matters. Comfortable and
happy, and mutual respect.

It should be on a case to case basis. Some women are better at finances then men and some men are better at it then women, etc, e tc. In my home it would be ME

i don't think sex, should matter... the head of house hold should go to the person who is able to handle it the best... if both are equal, then they both should be... they should communicate issues though... and if the man is the HOH, and if he does make the decisions then he should talk to the woman and inform her... it's all communication!!!

It depends on their character! But, I think both can be responsible and no head is needed! They should share their responsibilities!Balance has to be kept!
