No, a person is saved by grace thru faith in Jesus Christ. They don't earn their way in. However, if a person who has lived an ungodly life, sincerely repents of his sins shortly before dying, and puts his faith in Jesus Christ, he can be saved.
But it is a dangerous thing to do, to wait until the last minute. First, you don't know when that will be. Many people die without warning. Second, most people die as they have lived. If they rejected God all their lives, they usually don't want Him on their deathbed either. Furthermore, you miss out on the goodness of the Lord that you can experience even here on earth.

There is only one requisite for a ticket to Heaven. It is the Blood of Jesus and nothing else. Romans 10-9

No you can't. You can't earn your way to heaven. It is only through our relationship with Christ that we can go to heaven. We develop a relationship with Christ by first accepting him as Lord. Now, hypathetically speaking, if you were to accept him the moment b4 you died, you would be saved. But for the rest of us it doesn't end there.
After you first accept Christ and you learn about him you have the responsibility to go out and make disciples yourself. You are also supposed to do acts of faith, for w/o action faith is dead, after all faith is the act of believing. I just want to re-iterate that you don't earn your way to heaven. Acts of faith are a requirement, yes. But no matter how many you do you can't earn enough "points" to earn yourself a place in heaven. We are all worthy of the fires of hell through our own sins, it is through Christ's sacrifice and God's grace that we are saved.

You wish! : ^ )
If you aren't truly sorry for your sin, and haven't repented of it and asked Jesus to forgive you and be your Lord and your Savior, then you are bound for the hot place, I'm afraid. Saving someone from a fire is nice but that's not what it takes to save YOU from the fire, if you know what I mean.

Saving a persons life has absolutely nothing to do with salvation.
