Please forgive me for asking, as I know it sounds quite disgusting.

I used to have a dog before she died recently, (she was quite old too) but I believe that dogs can tend to eat grass (on purpose) to make themselves sick. I can't remember the exact reason why they do this, but I'm fairly certain it has something to do with trying to get rid of something which has disagreed with their stomachs.

But in the past, my dog would sometmes, after being sick, eat its own stuff it has brought up, (regardless of whether or not she has been eating grass beforehand) and I'm thinking..... ewww, disgusting!
I guess it's just not something I have experienced before.

I'm just curious though. Why did my dog eat its own vomit? Why did she do that?
At least this gave me an advantage, as it made the floor more easier to clean afterwards.

Well, think about it. Do you give your dog lots of protein? Sometimes vomit has a lot of protein in it and I'm just guessing but maybe your dog was feeling a bit sick vomited and eaten it for the protein they have lost.

Maybe she was too hungry after puking, you just had to give her something to eat which could make her stomach full (not TOO full, she'll puke again).

She was hungry, feed her. Are you not hungry after a good vomit?
