Any SP2 problems ?

Has anyone had any problems with Windows SP2 ( Service Pack 2 ) ?
After re-installing XP, and SP2 after that, SP2 presented me with this message "SP2 CANNOT INSTALL PROPERLY AS YOUR SYSTEM IS UNSTABLE (hugh ??) THEREFORE UNINSTALL SP2 NOW". Removing SP2 messed up my PC completely. Has anyone had problems with Windows SP2 ( Service Pack 2 ) -- what problems and how did you solve them. Thanks.

I had a thousand SP 2 install problems. BEST case is to install it when you first install Windows XP. (get the Windows XP with SP2 if you can. I'm not smart enough to slipstream. How I EVENTUALLY solved my SP 2 install problems once and for all (NO issues since), is that- with the initial install (not the upgrades.), you have to FIRST be sure you aren't running incompatible software. some virus protection won't run. I forget which. But read the documents for SP2. 2nd, no matter what you may be thinking, you can't run ANYTHING if you are installing SP2. You can't be online (it affects your browser, so you can't install SP 2 and browse (the web). IT affects virtually everything in your computer. So you 1st must go to your "tray" and unload ALL TSRs. No virus, no spyware control, no NOTHING. ANYTHING you can unload, unload.
When your system tray is essentially empty, and you have unloaded every program / utility you can find, and your system is totally vulnerable to anything that comes your way, THEN you can load SP 2. My install typically takes 1- 3 hours, depending on how clean my computer. So I also recommend that you clean your system THOROUGHLY first. (run Adware, run Spywyare, run Defrag, run your registry cleaner/optimizer. When your system is clean enough to cook your dinner on, I mean SQUEAKY clean, you are ready to install. Clean your system, then get all the "stuff" out of RAM, so that the ONLY 2 things you are running are your SP2 install, and Windows XP.
That should give you a clean install with no problems. ANYTHING you have running BUT Microsoft stuff, anything you OPERATE (surfing the web) will crash your install.
Once I figured out I had to start my SP2 install, and then watch a movie, read a book, "do the wife", go out to eat... Leave the computer ALONE for 2-3 HOURS, it was CLEAN!
