BUT she has had a discharge went she has tried to poo and it seems to be a clear discharge with a little blood in it as I mentioned she seems to be in good health and apart from the blood I would not have worried any further after the swelling went down, I am thinking she has been bitten by something and wondering if i should be more worried and take her to the vet.

I'm pretty sure that she got bit or stung by an insect. I've seen dogs that were bit by a rattle snake but the swelling lasted for weeks. I don't know where you live or what kind of bad critters you have but I'm pretty sure she got bit or stung. Dogs can be anafalatic (allergenic) to bug bits just like humans. If the swelling is down and she's not showing any symptoms of being sluggish, sick or drowsy, I wouldn't worry but do keep an eye on her. The main symptom will be vomiting and if she's not, she'll be OK. Dogs can't speak but they can tell you when something is wrong by the way they act. If you have more money than god and nothing better to do, by all means, take her to the vet but if your like most of us, just watch her. I think the worst part is over

My dog had swelling all over his face - it was an allergic reaction to something he ate.

we telephone the vet and they said give the dog anti-hystermene (sorry cannot remember how to spell it)
We gave our dog one spoon full every six hours and by the next morning he was fine. However there was no blood in his pooh so I strongly suggest you at least phone the vet and get there opinion.

Take her to the vet ASAP! Sounds like she ate something poisonous. Better safe than sorry.
Bee and spider stings also affect dogs much more than they do us - it might just be an allergic reaction....but it sounds like she ate something bad for her.

Please take her to the vet. Dogs cannot tell you what is wrong and with what you have described, there is something wrong. Call them tomorrow!
