I would like to create my own music. I would specifically like to be able to 'write' music for specific orchestral instruments, and put the music together from a group of instruments, and in effect, be a composer, director, and instrument player at the same time.

is 'Sound Forge' able to do this?

i'm not looking for something that will just put together music tracks, i want something with which i can create my own music altogether.
it would allow me to 'record' my own soundtracks without having to use an orchestra. if there is something like this out there, let me know. thanks.

Sound Forge is use for sound editing, like Cool Edit Pro.

If you want to write music notation, You can use Finale or Sybelius, these are score writing program.
I like Sybelius more.

If You want to record from instrument and/or add a midi note, use cakewalk Sonar, Cubase, these are recording program.
I like Cakewalk Sonar.

Hope this help
