I found a stray cat and cared for it since its mother died(I don't keep it in a cage, I let it go anywhere it wants to go). I went for a vacation for about three days and when i came back the cat started acting wierd. It doesn't want to eat and stops following me. Does anyone know the problem?

Hi there again...your cat may be just stressed from you leaving it for a few days. Consider trying to boil some chicken (without any bones) and rice and see if the cat will try to eat this. If it still cannot eat, you will need to contact a veterinarian (doctor) to check and see what is causing the inability to eat. Cats cannot go without food for several days or it will shut down the liver which is known as fatty liver disease. A vet can tell you more about this. I hope you get your cat to the doctor soon.

[edit] the other thing is that a cat who can roam freely outside they can get into old garbage where food is spoiled and this can make a cat very sick if the food has poisons in it too. This would be my most concern and if your cat did eat something poisonous you need to bring it to the doctor very soon.

You haven't mentioned how old the cat is and if it has ever seen a vet (doctor). Generally, all cats should see a vet as soon as they are adopted to get their vaccinations for feline leukemia, bordetella, calcivirus and other feline related diseases since they are are born with these deadly diseases. I know in Malaysia cats are not as cherished as they are elsewhere in the world, however as a cat owner you can request for extra help with your pet doctor to get all the necessary treatment and vaccines required for the best health.

If you would like to litter box train your cat, consider making one out of cardboard with plastic liner and use newspaper by tearing it into small pieces. This will work temporarily until you purchase a real cat litter box at a pet store. But you need to throw out the torn newspaper as soon as the cat uses it since it will smell very bad after each time it goes to the bathroom.

If the cat doesn't eat after 24 hours straight I would take it to the vet or do my best to try to get it to eat. It could be a mood disorder which is only remedied by you paying attention to the kitty and playing with it or it could actually be something more severe requiring vet care. Since it sounds like you have not had this cat for very long, the vet is the safest bet!

Buy the poor cat a litter box, and take it to the vet. The vet isn't very expensive. Usually checkups for my cats are around 25 dollars. You can call around. If you can't afford the cat at least take it to a no-kill shelter. They'll get it the help it needs.

Yep, you really should take your new baby to the kitty Dr.
It more than likely needs to be wormed and have it's shots and be checked for feline leukemia.
If you love your new kid you will have her all checked out and starting life out in the right , healthy direction.
Have fun playin' with your kitty!
