I work for Psychologists, and see this kinda thing on a daily basis. I see where you are coming from, but you have to see these people to realise that they are in fact "sick" and sometimes they really cannot control what they do. They are mentally depressed / unbalanced, and do the most horrific things. We have patients that say God told them to do it / their Dead mother / their voices in their head etc.
Think about it this way. What about those women who are mentally and physically abused by their husbands, who eventually snap and kill them. Should they go to jail? Or get a death penalty? Or should they just be considered "mentally depressed" and put in an asylum? What if it happened to you? Or your Mother or Father or Sister? Would you want to be given the benefit of the doubt and rather put in a mental institution, or would you want to be given the Electric Chair? Scary world we live in Hon! But SOME of these people REALLY don't know what they are doing, at the time of doing these things. Just be glad you don't have a brother / sister / father / mother in this position.

Well, it may not have been depression, but drowning 5 children how can you NOT say she is mentally disturbed?
AND I do not have babysitters for my children that have not been COMPLETELY screened, and if anyone would refuse they are automatically refrained from being hired, and I must spend some time with them FIRST to get a feel for them, which is what responsible parents do--so she would have NEVER been babysitting my children.

this is a common reaction to successful mental illness defenses. Hard for anyone to believe the things that mentally ill people believe and do. But I've seen them and I believe.

Dont get so worked up. She is paying her lawyer to protect her and reduce her sentence if possible. He is doing his job. She must be following his instructions. In this profession no one thinks what is right and what is wrong. They try their best to help the client whether the client is a criminal or an innocent person.

I hear you sweetie, and I agree with you. it is just heart breaking and I cannot understand how a mother could do such horrible things to any child, especially to her own five children.

Of coarse I would feel differently if they were my kids, I'd want her to rot in jail. But being mental doesn't necessarily mean you become dumb.

That, in my own opinion isn't mental depression. But clearly, there are other issues involved here. If it was up to me, she would get capital puishment. THOSE POOR CHILDREN!

if your reffering to the true story a few years back, i AGREE, theres no way in hell she is that mental to drown her kids, if she was she would have medication for or she would be in a rubber room to begin with, the whole thing is BS and she should have gotten executed for this crime, one of the worst jugdements in court ive ever seen in my life or read about in history!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
