I diet and so I take Centrum as a supplement. I guess the vitamin I am thinking of the most is C because I get my daily value in the Centrum and I also eat ALOT of fruit, orange juice, and fruit snacks which all contain alot of vitamin C. Is this bad for me or will my body just get rid of the excess? Are there any other things I should be looking out for when taking a multivitamin?

You can not over dose on Vitamin C. It will make your urine more acidic, but nothing worse than that. Your kidneys deal with it, as part of their normal functioning.

And remember that Centrum holds many Minerals that we need to take. By the way, you may contact me directly. ( too much Iron sometime got toxic result. Ok . Centrum is not a Multivitamin Tablet. Your body will get rid of excess vitamin C, it is water soluable.
You can only absorb about 500 mg. of vitamin C at a time so if you are taking high dose of vitamin c you should divide it into several smaller doses throughout the day. It will not hurt you to take a lot, but it is a waste to take more than 500 mg. in one dose because your body cannot process more than that at one time and will get rid of it. Taking too much C can give you an upset stomach.
You can get too much vitamin E, vitamin K, fish oil, and some of the B vitamins, to name a few. Any vitamins that are fat-soluable are stored and your body doesn't get rid od the excess. Taking too much vitamin E, fish oil, flaxseed, esp. in combination with each other can thin your blood too much. An excess of some B vitamins can cause permanent nerve damage.

Taking your daily Centrum with your diet rich in fruit and veggies will NOT give you an overdose of any vitamins/minerals. If you were taking additional vitamin C, it could be too much for your body (too much 'c' can harm, but not when the 'extra' you're getting is through your food!).

Sounds like you've got a good thing going on, keep it up! :)

Well, if you keep taking the same vitamin daily, is it most probably your body would suffer from unbalance vitamin.

Like example, if you take too much vitamin C, what about the vitamin A and B for your body.

Try to keep a balance between the vitamins. Or you could just ask your doctor for advice.

Your body takes care of getting rid of excess vitamin C.

You can overdo on the vitamins if you take a multivitamin AND other specific vitamins with it.

Check with a dietician or pharmacist before doing so.

The first sign you are getting too much C is loose stools. If your not having a problem, its not a problem. The RDA is based on the amount needed to prevent scurvy....so dont worry about getting more than the RDA, because its the minimum we need to be healthy.
Centrums are just fine - and are recommended by doctors who dont get kickbacks for a good reason. They are a good measure of insurance against malnutrition without being "too much of a good thing"

If you are on a diet, you don't need to be eating that much fruit. There is tons of sugar in fruit. As for too much vitamins, yes, you can get sick and die by taking too much of a vitamin. I think as of today, you won't be getting scurvy any time soon.

Multi-supplements are continuously reliable because they have supplements that you gained't devour from nutrition. yet like someone stated, they do no longer replace nutrition. Taken alongside with nutrition is healthful. There are not fairly any disadvantages yet too a lot of a few thing is under no circumstances a reliable ingredient. for example, only because it really is healthful would not propose you ought to have 3 of your One-A-Day pill. also, for example in case you devour an excellent type of oranges (which incorporates nutrition c), you ought to cut back off as you'll already be getting nutrition c as part of your pill. do not cut back it down all at the same time even with the truth that!

c is water soluable so it goes right through you, the only problem with it is too much can make your stomach bleed just like asprin can. The oil based vitamins A, D, E and so on will build up in your system and right now im having a problem with too much potassium because im on a potassium sparing water pill. if your urine is really bright yellow you are wasting your money taking all those vits, because you are just washing them away.
