You should try Robitussin DM cough medecin and also drink lots of water so smooth your throat..in addition, try not to drink cold beverages, but instead hot tea with lemon (not coffee) because it's too strong for the cough. and get a good night of sleep at leat 8 hrs. hope you feel better. ;)

Gum won't help, and the sugar in it will leave an awful taste in your mouth. To help your throat, make a cup of hot tea. Add 1 tsp of honey if you have it, and one tsp of lemon juice if you have it. If you don't have lemon or honey, just drink the tea. It has to be hot to soothe your throat. You can also take two Advil (Motrin) or two Tylenol. Then get some rest. (By rest I mean SLEEP). And while you're drinking the tea, look up the difference between "sore" and "soar". Hope you feel better.

Aspirin works on a sore throat just like it would work on pain elsewhere in the body. Luden's cough drops are good. You may need some Contact cold tablets or similar drug. You can also gargle with warm salt water.

Tea is a great idea, but you can also use honey and lemon juice to help with the sore throat and cough. the best combination would be if you can stand 1/2 honey and 1/2 lemon juice, but if not add as much lemon as you can stand and you can take this as often as you want. I should coat your throat and calm your cough.

Advil Flu and Body Ache or Advil Multi-Symptom Cold along with tea w/ honey and lemon. Make sure you get plenty of water and orange juice (vitamin C). You can also use some cough drops, though the tea works better for me. Hope you feel better!!

as long as you don't have HBP (high blood pressure), or diabetes, you can take ibuprofen for the pain and swelling caused by the sore throat. also, try Chloraseptic spray to numb the back of your throat, or lozenges.
for the cough, you can try a cough suppressent like Robitussin DM (again, as long as you don't have HBP or diabetes), and/or apply vapor-rub

If you are not allergic: try an aspirin disolved in very warm water with listerine (regular listerine) gargle and spit, you will notice the difference. Of course consult with your physician before doing anything.
