The Japanese straightener is called Liscio, and it is great, I see it done all the time at work. It will permanently straighten you hair (until new hair grows out). It costs about $300 to $500 in my area and you really need to research before you have it done, a poor one can ruin your hair (until it grows out). You can't do it if you have had beach highlights done recently and there is some maintenance, conditioning and care. Liscio straightens without weakening or thinning the hair shaft, and it can take 5 hours to do(depending on your hair, hence the cost). It will make the hair flat, some people who have thin hair, well, their hair looks really thin to me when it's straight, but they seem very happy. Straightening won't change the weight of your hairs, it will just make them straight.
Shop carefully, ask people if they have had their hair straightened and by whom, and how the results were, it's a lot of money and you want it done correctly. Check out the stylist and the shop, ask if you can come by and see it done, pretend to be unsure and watch how precise the stylist is, come back to see it finished, if they are good they will cooperate with you (some customers may not want to be observed, but the salon should be open about showing off, the good ones are proud of their work), if they act mean about it, there is something wrong. Also consider that you are going to be there for hours, if the stylist is not nice, it's going to be a long day....
I'd advised to not try home straighteners, I've seen the stylists trying to repair the damage of people who have done that, and better to save for a good service than to waste it on a cheap one that doesn't get good results...Good luck with your quest.
Really, I don't see anything wrong with poofy hair...I have some Polynesian friends who have some really wild hair...they are always paying to have it straightened. I think it looks cool wild, I wish mine had more personality.

I always wondered myself if such a procedure exists..I dont think it does because the way your hair follicles are shaped cant possibly be changed.. Its like trying to change eye color..And if it did tons of celebs would be getting it done..Im sure your hair is beautiful anyways..Theres always somone else with worse hair

They have this thing called the Japanese Straight which is like a type of relaxer or perm to make hair straight. You could read up on it or ask a hair stylist about it.

You can go to salon to straighten your hair. But before going to salon, consult a good hair specialist. They will tell you about the quality of your hair

if you go to the hair salon they can permanently straighten your hair until it falls out or new one's grow. Literally, you don't even have to straighten it everyday.
However, they charge a high price, it's usually around a hundred bucks at my city.
