I'm graduating from college soon, and need to decide what to do. I have an apartment lined up, but have not signed a lease. I am currently in Atlanta, and have no job lined up. I live back in the northeast, and would not be at all looking forward to moving home. In addition, I have a girlfriend and friends down here, but they are not my main motivation. I really want some independence, but have no clue what I should do!!! My parents really think I should move back home, but I really don't want to.

You'll have your degree, you'll be a certified adult with an education who is perfectly capable of taking care of himself. So act like one. Do NOT move home.

Find a reliable roomate to share expenses, and begin living on your own. It does not make it easier to live with folks afterward, it can, admittedly, be a cushy set-up for a spell....but the truth is, the sooner you become independent and get your adult life rolling, the sooner you will gain the respect for YOURSELF and it will build confidence in YOURself, which no one can ever take away from you.
Focus on your field, your job, don't get into credit card debt, in fact, never have more than one , and make sure you pay IT off every month, even if it means doing without or living on a skinny budget. Financial instability is one of the top 3 reasons for divorce, and you do not want to develop that miserable way of life.
Save , Save , Save!!!!
Atlanta is expensive, I know, and rent can eat up a salary fast--a clean place there in a decent community only begins at 750./mo. or so.... same down here in Florida...so keep those finances under control early and you will never , never regret it later on. Believe me. I know. Good Luck. Glad you are thinking and planning, not burying your head in the sand and taking the easy route!!!

Do what you feel is in your best interest. I'd give my left eye to have been able to live at home rent free after college and sock away major cash...but as you stated you don't really want to do that.
Find a job in Atlanta...I'm sure there are good one's to be had. Independence is a state of mind. Good luck!!

Don't move back home, at least not in with your folks. You'll have no incentive to move forward with your life as long as mom and dad are taking care of you.
Get a random job until you can line up something career-oriented. Serve coffee at Starbucks. You don't have to love it, you just have to pay the bills. Better if you don't love it, so you'll have something pushing you to find something better!

There is no place like home. I guess you could take that to mean several different things though.
I would opt for moving back home. That way you will have the luxury of taking your time to find a GOOD job--not just any old job to pay the rent. It will make a difference on your resume someday, trust me.

You need to focus on your career right now. Women and friends will come later. Move back home, become financially stable, get set in your career and start your life.
