well for what its worth, it sounds to me that you are suffering from excessive worry. being aware of your surroundings is a good thing, but like too much of anything is just too much, you know?

the truth is if you are worrying about the future or imagining that bad things will happen, there is an easy way to get over that. i will tell you, but first i just need to say that please dont take meds for this. i mean most Drs wil tell you to relax or do yoga, meditate or something, which is good advice but the few that would actually give you pills could be damaging. may make you stupid and/or forgetful, which wouldnt help you.

anyway, my advice is this:

if you will be proactive, you can relieve a lot of this anxiety. for example, when you find yourself anxious or having bad images of things that will happen, stop and think abotu something that you woul dlike to happen...not just thinking but try to see it, make a daydream abotu a desired outcome. if you find an NLP practitioner i think they could help you a lot. its too detailed to tell you but find a local practitioner.....will change your life in lots of ways.

Love yourself and stop suffering with this

Sounds like you need to seek professional help. My truly unprofessional opinion would be that it sounds like you have some form of social anxiety, perhaps with an OCD componant. However, from your short explaination, it would be hard to tell.
If this does turnout to be the case, then yes, most likley an SSRI or seizure medicine might help. (OCD is like a seizure, except where as people with epilepsy have a seizure of physical activity, people with OCD have seizures of BEHAVIOR - in this case, hypervigilence of surroundings, such as checking behaviors, and perhaps personal awareness.) SSRI's help by reducing the hyperactivity in the part of the brain that moniters and "judges" what is going on around us - by reducing the overactivity to more normal levels, the "throttle" is downshifted to a less anxious state.

An anycase, I would seek some assistance on this matter. Its certainly worth it, especially if you feel it is hampering your quality of life.
Good Luck

OCD - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. You can be treated with behavioral therapy. Have your regular doctor refer you to a psychologist or psychiatrist for treatment. They can help you help yourself without medication. In some cases medication is prescribed.

It sounds like some sort of anxiety disorder. Did some event in your life trigger this behavior? You may need anti-anxiety meds and/or counseling.
