U have to wash it with a very good shampoo like Pantene Clarifying Shampoo. U should get a conditioner that promotes moister back into your hair so that u do not have to use grease at all. Next time your hair is dry just use a dime size in your hand and rub together then put into your hair. that should suffice your hair lenght. if u feel that u don't want grease get a good oil sheen product like Olive Oil hair sheen or Ike Hair Polisher that u can get at any Beauty Supple Store. use dish soap then when it is all out put conditoner on your hair and let it sit for 20 minutes then rinse it out with cool water this will keep your hair from getting damaged!!!!!!!!! good luck

Try only applying conditioner to your ends, not your roots.
