I am losing a lot of Hair (around 40 - 50 strands a day). It might be the onset of MPB. I consulted a well known homeopathic chain here in India (Dr Batras) for slowing down the hair fall. Among other prescription they have asked me NOT to put any oil in hair.

I thought that oil is necessary for hair strength. Should i continue oiling my hair? I use olive oil once - twice a week.

the oil may be coating your scalp not allowing any nutrients to get to your hair's root also it wouldnt be good to go in the sun with oil on your hair. hairloss is caused by sun damage, stress, poor diet and hereditary. the thing i know of that works is alterna life restore shampoo, conditioner and scalp serum. i am a hair stylist and the 25-35 guest i have using this product noticed a difference in 6-8 weeks the hair began feeling thicker and more healthier. if your hairs follicle isnt completely dead hair will still grow from it. and the difference with this product is that once you stop using it your hair will not fall out. becuase it eliminates the DHT that is keeping your hair from growing. well hope your try it and good luck to you.

hair oil can harm you hair only if you leave it on for too long or go out with it where dust is attracted easily. if you have an oily scalp apply a lesser amount and keep for not more than 15 mins.if you have dry hair den you can keep it on for half an hor or so. hair oil is actually good for the hair.apply once a week and wash.you can try different kins like almond oil and so on.

it's not that strange to lose 40-50 strands a day. some people even lose 100! I don't think oil is so necessary for your hair since your body already produces them, but if your hair has split ends, you should keep using the olive oil. but too oily is not good!

funny you should mention oil as I've just started an olive oil treatment that includes ten oil treatments per month on recommendation from a pre-med student. My hair fallage is less but the real reason is the scalp for folliculitis. And the oil seems to be improving this as well ....

It really depends, but adding moisture to your hair, is a must. Adding a hair cream/oil stops the hair from becoming dry, brittle, damage. Also adding a hair dressing to your hair and scalp provides minerals and vitamins which promotes hair growth.
