I recieved a citation for "displaying fictitious number plate" (Colorado Statute 42-3-121(1)(b))
The plate that was on the car belonged to the previous owner, she just told me to keep the plate...I know that's risky...NOW! HAHA!
But, the question I have for you, when he gave me the citation, and told me about my court date, he just ripped off my copy and gave it to me. I never signed it, he never asked me to. There is definatly a place for me to sign it. It says "My signature, with payment and within 20 days, is an acknowldegement of guilt....
and "My signature without payment, is a promise to appear in court". Now, there was no fine, just a court date. Is this valid since I didn't sign it at all? If not, what should I do??

In Illinois, You don't have to sign the citation if your post your valid driver's license as bond. Anything else....I-Bond, cash bond, promise to comply, etc.....requires a signature.

The citation is probably a "must appear", meaning you have to go to court for it. Your penalty (fine) will be decided by the presiding judge. Show up for court or you'll have a warrant out for your arrest.

in the experience that your chum has achieved prank calls previously impersonating a police officer and the police comprehend it, it is going to likely be slightly complicated to your chum to describe that he's not any longer component to yet another prank call. it incredibly is the full crying wolf element. Your chum additionally must be careful approximately asserting he's 17, because of the fact that's no longer a loose pass. that's on the fringe of the criminal age. a individual of that age ought to comprehend greater effective to no longer make prank calls. Your chum must be seen fortunate to are transforming into to be off with purely a verbal warning. this must be a lesson discovered so as that he can straighten up and fly ideal.

It's valid. If it was as easy to deny a ticket by not signing it (which is not something I'm feeling quite so friendly about when I'm receiving a ticket), yeah, who's gonna sign it? Anyways, I'm thinking since there's no fine amount written, it means you gotta go to the court date. Call the courthouse # and ask for sure.
Good luck!

I'm not an officer but i'm a Dispatcher and i know you should just go to your court date! If you fail to appear you're going to have a warrant out for your arrest and that will be a whole lot more painful than just going to the court date and getting it all taken care of.

The Citation was an "Appear" notice. Appear and avoid a warrant and Suspension.
