DVD shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
Failed to read file "D:\"
The request could not be performed because of an I/O error.

I went to open disk and then to Backup files and that usually works to copy the files and then it prompts me to put in a blank disk. And this isn't the error I have seen due to the disk being protected. Yes, it is a rented movie. I know, i know. I'm just looking for an answer here, not comments of legality. Thanks!

Sometimes shrink can't get through some disks...try getting FABDVDDecyrpter and that should work...also ANYDVD. Good luck hope this helps. I never have any problem with any disk.

decrypt with Fab...then open shrink...instead of hitting open disk...hit open file...then find the files FAB decrypted...analyze and encode then copy as usual..arrrrrrrrr :)

Sorry dyslexia its called DVDFabdecrypter try it here any prob let me know http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=DVDFab_Decrypter

I have seen this error too and asked a friend who copies lots of dvd's. His answer to me was this is due to the discs being copy protected. I found that if I used NTSC discs instead of PAL(I live in UK) I did'nt get this error though.
Have you tried using Blindwrite? once you get the hang of it,it can copy discs that dvdshrink fail to read.
I think some of the latest rental movies have more copy protect on them tho and this will cause me probs in future as i only make backups of discs i've alrady bought.
So I'll be watching other answers to your question with interest.

sure definately! Burn at a lot less speed, perchance 4x or maybe 2x. I had this concern, it only desires turning down, because the dvd rw cant burn as quick because the disc is popping! each of the finest The Pmiester
