Yes I knew that. Besides every time you purchase something you pay taxes.
Your finding has got to be economically based I guess. I have not read the whole thing but government runs on taxes so if you can get taxes from an illegal alien then go for it.
For those of you complaining about your country just think why so many people risk being smuggled into or sneaking into our country. It cant be because they had it so good in their country they felt guilty and had to come to the US to repent.
I know there is more to this issue but that's for other questions. This info is pretty good. THANKS

First off, it is not ITPIN but ITIN or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number. According to the IRS the following information was stated:
Are ITINs valid for identification?
No. ITINs are not valid identification outside the tax system. Since ITINs are strictly for tax processing...
Are ITINs valid for work purposes?
No. ITINs are for federal income tax purposes only.
I would guess that many "illegal aliens" are afraid to register because they fear it would mean tracking them. Therefore, they could be picked up and deported faster. I wish this was true however, according to the site, "ITIN applicants are not required to apply in person, and IRS does not further validate the authenticity of identity documents. ITINs do not prove identity outside the tax system, and should not be offered or accepted as identification for non-tax purposes." So the illegals should not have any fears. Of course, that is too bad, as they are criminals and should be deported back to the country of their origin as quickly as possible. Then of course since they can't be used as ID, what good are they? That addresses your first issue.
Second, the illegal who "steals" another persons SS# is commiting identity theft. What if you got laid off and went to claim unemployment benfits and were denied because the unemployment office stated you were working in another city miles from where you live? That has happened. The use of your SS# by illegals (since that is the topic here, but it can apply to anyone who illegally uses your number) can ruin your credit rating, your ability to collect SS benefits, or any other of a number of things. So it is just not them paying some money into your SS account but also legal aspects affecting the person with the stolen SS#.
Mike C: My understanding of the law you are talking about (if we are on the same page) is that the "illegal" could not claim paying in before they became legal. Now we might be talking about two different laws here. Perhaps if you have the number, I could check it against the one I have. thanks

Right...stealing our SS# is such a great favor they are doing us.Do you think that all they use that # for is so they can help us out and add to our social security?Ever had your SS# stolen and tried to get your identity back after someone has used it to open credit accounts or committed a crime?
While some do apply for the tax number, the majority don't.And sales tax does not count, that contributes very little towards the federal benefits these people are sucking off the government.

I would find it hard to believe that any significant percentage of illegals acquired this ITPIN. Many of the illegals are also not legally employed.
You know that many states have a marijuana tax? You can pay tax on the marijuana you purchase by going down to where ever and telling them how much you purchased and they will have you pay a per gram fee. They even have stamps like on the bottom of cigarette packs. How many people you think pay the tax?
The guy about above is talking about "The Fair Tax" a good idea replacing income taxes with a consumption tax.

the only people who need to pay taxes who are working here are those whose employer reports their earnings to the IRS. the majority of illegals work "under the table" (ie-cash up front, without taxes deducted) so that the employer won't get caught for hiring illegals. do you really think an illegal or an illegal employer would go out of their way to register for a taxpayer i.d. if they knew they didn't have to and that they could get caught? although its a cute little law and everything, the majority of illegals either dont have a taxpayer id b/c they dont report to the irs!

So, we should be thankful to an illegal when they steal our SSNs and add money to our Social Security? Give me a break! Read the answers you got here and get it through your thick head that these illegals are NOT doing US any favors! No matter how you turn it around and evaluate it, they are hurting the legal citizens of the country by being here illegally.

What is an ITIN? An ITIN is a nine-digit Individual Taxpayer Identification Number issued by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to foreign individuals who are required to have a U.S. taxpayer identification number but are not eligible to obtain a social security number (SSN). ITINS begin with the number "9" and are formatted like a SSN (NNN-NN-NNNN). The ITIN is for tax purposes only. It does not entitle the individual to social security benefits, and creates no inference regarding the individuals immigration status or right to work in the U.S.

Very good info. The other way is they get forged documents and get a SS card or they steal a SS#. They then pay SS, FICA but cannot collect SS. Well, in may of this year the senate tried to make it legal for illegal aliens to collect SS Benefits. It was defeated in a 50-49 vote. Want to bet the new congress and senate will vote it through next time it comes up?

Really?!? Wow! Guess what, amigo- we have another "little law" that states that people aren't allowed to enter the country without proper authorization. It goes on to state that they can be fined, incarcerated, and deported (or all three...) for doing so. Did YOU know that?!?
Now, seeing as the illegals are so "law abiding", they can just get their sorry behinds back to wherever they came from... seeing as how they "respect" our laws and all- right, "diablo"?

You honestly think an illegal is going to go out of their way to get an ITPIN so they can pay taxes? And no they don't get taxes withheld from their checks they're paid in CASH. None of our services should be used to support illegals.
