Here's a doozy! When we go underwater, why doesn't water flood our heads?

Is there some mechanism that prevents this?

You have an air plug in your ear canal. Kind of like the water plug in the pipe under your sink.

I don't know. I always thought it had something to do with the ear drums...but I'll bet you anything some other guy will have a better answer than I do.

Because, the air pressure in yours doesn't allow it!
