I would go to libary but I live in BC and the church was in Toronto

Contact your local library, they should have newspapers from that time, probably in microfilm.

You could also contact the local Anglican headquarters and ask for any records of the time - some of the churches will send copies of their normal records to the headquarters, and even if the Anglicans are not one of those churches, they should at least have records on the destruction of one of their properties. If St. Augustine's was the headquarters at that time, you may need to go the next step up from that.
