He keeps insiting he can do it himself, and he obviously can't. But he won't go to rehab willingly either, this has been going on for about 8yrs. and i am afraid he will end up dead from the addiction. Any advice or insight with this would be great!

How do you make a 45yr. old man go to rehab, if he doesn't agree? That's been the problem, we HAVE tried desperatly.

does he want to stop? cause if he doesn't he won't. Even if he does want to stop it will be extremely hard. Nobody wants to go to rehab, that is a fact. You could make him you know. your family could. I don't know any statistics for crack cocaine, but 97% of meth addicts relapse. It is possible to overcome, I am living proof, but you have to want to. Good luck to you, I will say a prayer for you and your family.

Honestly, if you are going to get off it you are going to get off it. If he REALLY wants to he will, but it will be a lot easier with rehab. There's a show on A&E called Intervention. If you think it could help your brother and have him make a decision to permantly change his life, click the link below...

Have you tried a hardcore intervention?

If so, he has to really want to get better and stay in treatment otherwise it'll be a waste of time for all of you to believe his promises that he can do it alone.

If not, try that with a counselor and see what happens then?

For the most part, it's up to him to want to get better, 'cuz you or anyone else forcing him into treatment if he doesn't want to be there, isn't gonna make him get better.

Good Luck to you and your family!!

If you're worried about him going to rehab, because he'll get into trouble - worry no more, as long as he's not being forced to go to rehab by the police, then he can check into out-patient, no matter what the test results say, the doctors cannot report it to the police.

My parents caught me with alcohol several times, and just recently marijuana, and sent me to out-patient Drug & Alcohol rehab, and it's completely confidential, my test results are safe. If they reported them, I could sue them for malpractice.

REHAB. REHAB. REHAB.
even stopping afteer going to rehab is hard and takes self-modivation, a support group, and will-power; but it's almost impossible to do it alone. He WILL NEVER STOP BY HIMSELF. He's tried 8 years and FAILED. do him a favor and, for his own good, sent him to rehab....even if he doesn't want to.

he'll probably end up going to rehab-he can't do it alone. he needs someone else's help.
if you care about him, which obviously you do, you will MAKE him go to rehab for his own sake and health!

Turn him in. If you want your brother to live that would be the best choice and he will realize it later.

There is almost no chance. This is something that needs professional attention.

some problems come with their own solutions albeit slow solutions.
give it a few more years and if he isnt dead hook him up with a bad batch when he looks extra bad one day.
