My chief concern is that your dogs may ingest harmful people food off the table or from the garbage. The list of no-no's is surprisingly long. Dogs cannot have chocolate, grapes or raisins, garlic or onion (including the powdered form of these), macadamia nuts, mushrooms, nutmeg, raw potatoes (especially those with the green spots), caffeine, moldy foods of any kind, and high fatty foods such as ham, chicken and turkey skin, and real bacon strips. Just keep these in mind. I know that you don't want your dogs to become ill or die from accidentally eating something that's deceptively harmful. We all love our pets too much for that.

Dogs even though they are predatory animals also are natural scavengers and will sniff around and find the most Minuit crumb if it's there. It really doesn't matter to the dog that you just fed him This is a natural survival instinct that the dog has and there is nothing you can do to change it. The only thing you can really do is correct him when he tries to get up on the table or counter to show that to get up there to scavenge is not acceptable. GOOD LUCK.

They do it because they are allowed to. Try leaving food on the table and counters and sprinkle it generously with hot sauce or ground cayenne pepper. It won't take long till they will realize it's not worth the burning lips and tongue. I broke my dog from getting in the trash can this way.

Because you leave it out. Since they are animals and they smell food, they get on the counters. Dogs will eat even if they're not hungry. You should also look into professional training. If you learn how to train them properly, they will know not to get on counters.

probably because the food on your counters and tables are human foods so they smell better. also you probably feed them the same thing everyday so they want something more interesting. dont feed them a variety of things everyday though, or else theyll start getting pikcy. thats what we did to my pup :( shes really spoiled..lol

many dogs are conditioned, not by choice, to eat what there masters ate eating. any small scrap of food they receive from the table in the past will tell them that this is the meal. as pack animals they will follow your cue. try to feed them separately from your family and see how they react. when needed keep them completely separate from human meals.

I think we know who's boss here! If you make a fuss they see this as you paying attention to them. just keep things out of their sight or sence of smell and find something they don't like and use this as a means of punishment in order to deter them from getting into the things they shouldn't. Good luck, and be frim.....

They don't eat it because they're hungry, but rather because it's something that smells good, and is available to them.
Why not keep food out of their reach, when it's not meant for them.
