need to start by turning bass on head unit a the way down and turn the treb. all the way up. then turn the volume up where you usually listen to it at then go to your amp and start adjusting till it sounds like what you want...... but i would however look over the installation and make sure none of the wires are rubbing together or pinched

The first order of business is getting a new amp for your woofer. That 4 channel amp is running on class A/B circuity and isn't meant to power a sub, rather it is made for component speakers. Get a mono class D amplifier that is built to drive subs. The next thing you can do if you don't want to get a new amp is to make sure the amp's gains are set correctly. You need to match the voltage of the amp with the gains to match the voltage of the hu. Use a DMM.

Also a 4 channel amp is not meant for running subs. That could be a reason why it doesn't sound good. You would need to get a monoblock amp for best sound with a sub.

have it playing as you mess with the settings on your amp, leave it where it sounds best

Look over the way you installed it or it may be the battery
