Kittens under the age of about 8 months normally do not bury their poop, it is a learned habit that usually develops after about 8 months. My kitten had the same problem! If you put mats or newspaper around the litterbox you can prevent your kitty from tracking it on your floors/carpets, but unfortunately you may have to continue washing her paws until she starts learning to bury. I also agree with getting a larger litterbox. Not only will your cat appreciate it when it gets bigger, but it gives your kitten more room to go, and she'll be less likely to step in it.

II'm sure its in the litterbox right? Get on of those mats that catch the litter will also help with the paws-go to Petsmart or Petco or Petstore where they sell the ones that really work-not the kind in Walmart or grocery store-waste of money. Also thekitten should outgrow although I never had one that did it-are you putting sufficient litter in the box for it to scratch and usually will even defecate in the same place in the litterbox. Good Luck

Get a bigger litter box so kitty can have more room to move out of the range of her recent "production." My kitty liter boxes are those low and long plastic storage boxes... they provide enough room for a large cat to meaneuver.
