WHy do people think that the rights of an arested person are so carefully guarded?

Really an arrested persons rights haven't ever changed you just have to tell them now? I guess it's because they're just so d*m stupid.

You have the right not to confess...duh
You have the right to defend yourself with a lawyer...duh really
you have the right to stop confessing...You mean I can shut up,cool!

Because police departments really hate being sued. MOST cops are really careful to protect the rights of those in custody to avoid a suit.

We want to protect our citizens from the abuse of a police state.

All persons arrested are presumed innocent.

just because they are arrested, it doesn't mean that their rights are taken away.

they are guarded because we have this thing called innocent until proven guilty.
