How do bands plan their tours?

How do they deside what state, city, county etc they will book a gig at?

thats mostly it in a nutshell although promoters get ahold of the managers alot and try to solicit their venue to the artist to try and persuede them to play at their venue. The venue must try to convince the band that they will sell a good amount of ticets also

The bands have managers that do all the planning- all the logistics are figured out by the manager from the cities to the hotels to the gigs, transportation etc.
