God loves praise and chanting is a form of that; it also gets your focus on Him and turned away from "the everyday world"...I would think its much the same as singing praise songs to Him.

In the Eastern Orthodox Church, we do say the name of Jesus, in the Jesus Prayer. Which goes like this...

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, Have mercy on me a sinner.

This done with breathing...is amazing. Saint Gregory Palamas has much to say on this. You experience the energies of God in a real way. Pretty soon, your spirit is saying the prayer all the time. And you are filled with the Holy Spirit. I could go on and on... but it is good to start in simplicity. Go ahead, try to say this prayer...try it for 10 minutes, quietly, and speaking it slowly, yet out loud, and see what happens

If you do this while concentrating on your breathing, slowly breathing in and out, doing this for about 15 min. - it will bring you a peace and calmness, alleviating stress and anxiety.
But it is best to do this, with no one around.
And when all is quiet in your home.
Maybe early in the morning when everyone is asleep.
Look up "Mindfulness of Breathing" on the internet. Do a Search, and study about this.
It has many beneficial effects on the mind and on the body.

You dont have to chant anything.
I am always there for all living and non-living things in the universe...Just focus on doing good things, rather than wasting your time chanting my name.

I have no clue what you mean by chanting.
I as a christian praise God.I am not ashamed to lift up my hands and worship Jesus.Jesus gave his body and life for me.Why would I not praise him.
When I go to watch sports I see many praise the players, they have done nothing for you.
People worship movie stars, singers, others. But the people the world worship ,can do nothing for your soul.
People make fun of me for my worship,God makes fun of them for their worship.

Sai, it pretty much helps you stay calm and while you chant your attention is not wasted on spending time worrying over unneccessary matters.
