Lilith was Eve before the fall.
Lilith was later on known as Eve after the fall.
There's also a possibility that Lilith was one of the creatures in the garden that wasn't compatible with Adam.

The catholic version appears to be that she was the first wife of Adam. She was gotten rid of because she was not blindly obedient and wouldn't play scapegoat for an entire religion.
Otherwise... she is the name sake for a concert series a few years ago featuring women who don't take no shite.

An example made by the men who wrote those ancient books. They didn't like the idea of strong willed women, so why not make a fable of a strong willed woman being hated and going to hell? That type of logic has worked throughout history unfortunately.
