its peace be unto h im.... we say it after mentioning all prophets names.. including Jesus.Moses Abraham, Noah, Adam etc . might teach you a little lesson in respect for Jesus, if you as a Christian be a little more respectful of your own prophet... If we muslims say PBUH (peace be unto him) for Jesus, why cant you?....

It's just the way they show respect for him. He is a prophet, after all. PBUH stands for "peace be upon him". They know he's in peace, but just say it for respect. It isn't a "redundant ranting".

That's a good question if the prophet really is Holy then He should be full of peace therefore instead of saying pbuh should it be just peace be upon me?
Jesus gave peace to His followers He didn't ask people to wish Him peace because He is Divine.

It means 'Peace Be Upon Him' as you already know. We say it from a respect that can only be given to these great Prophets of Islam (Moses, Jesus, Muhammad and some others).
I pray you understand clearly.

It's no different to a Catholic who crosses himself after saying the name of Jesus. It's a gesture of respect.
