Someone said this as a response to my last question regarding Hell: "in fact it makes more sense to belive in it,than to belive AGAINST it. why? you can't observe that something like that does NOT exist. you can merely observe that you can't observe that it IS there."

So... I suspect this person believes in EVERYTHING. Unicorns, Thor, Aphrodite, the Great Spaghetti Monster, a teapot orbiting the Earth, etc. These things can't be DISPROVED. So one MUST believe in them, huh? That's what the argument sounded like.

Believe in everything unless it's disproved.

That's exactly what theism is. To believe until it's disproved.

The burden of proof is on the theists. They make the claim. It is not up to anyone else to disprove it. That's going against the Scientific Method.

Nor is it up to atheists to prove there is no god. You can't prove a negative.

The believers always try to use that. It doesn't work any more. Basically in all areas of your life you believe in things that can be proven. When you go to a doctor, you would insist on a medicine that has been proven, and would reject a treatment with no proof of effectiveness. You accept things that can be proven and are skeptical of things that can't. You do this all the time. But because religion offers you a second chance at life, you jump at it, even though it cannot be proven. They know what hooks to use, it's their business. The religions have had thousands of years to prove the existence of a man living in a cloud and always come up empty handed, What seems to be the problem? In any court of law and in all other areas of life if you claim that something exists you must substanciate it with it with proof. But you let religion pull the wool over your eyes because they say that if you don't believe it without proof, they will deny it for you.

You want science? Here's science. Fossils discovered of carvings. Carvings were detailed drawings of dinosaurs on the walls of several caves. If man and dinosaur had not co-existed, who did these intricate drawings? Fossils found of clear, human prints -bare foot-perfectly preserved on top of dinosaur prints. If dinosaurs and man did not co-exist, explain this?
Fossile Find: A mother ichthyosaur in process of giving bith. Skin of new born, which is more prone to decay, was in good shape. If fossils take millions of years to form, explain this?
The Earth is a closed system, as is plain to see. (Even scientists can't agree on what is and is not a closed/open system). As such it is definitely subject to certain scientific laws, such as Thermo-Dynamics. Huge strike against the only other "theory" out there.
God says, "Come, let us reason together". This requires the use of your mind.
There is more than enough evidence to support the Bible, especially the record of creation as found in the Book of Genesis. There is more than enough evidence to support the absolute accuracy of the entire Bible. You can either accept the evidence and believe what it tells you, or you can foolishly turn away; don't even read it. This is known as wilful ignorance. It's also a choice
PS. If you want to find this evidence, all you gotta do is study like I did and know where to find your resources.

this is not that it disproves a god. this is that it proves a god became no longer mandatory to make the international what it really is. What disproves god is the inability of information. at the same time as human beings say there must be a god because how else would the international have become it truly is when I raise evolution.

Seriously, just get a bible and read it, man. You owe it to yourself to check it out. What do you have to lose. How can you make an educated decision without looking at the evidence. The bible is the Word of God. It is living and active. supernatural. Beyond mans simple minded wisdom.

I think the christians are finally understanding that the burden of proof rests on their shoulders. Reading posts on this site, I've almost come to the conclusion that humans are not inherently intelligent. They can suppress their brain, and let their emotions guide their thought processes.

You just said that the theists have the burden of proof, then you said it's not up to athiests to prove there is no god. I submit to you that if they stand on the belief that there is no god, they should prove that belief or they have nothing to stand on.

By this logic we can prove many untenable things, including the "fact" that he is insane. Here's how:

If one were to say that he believes that 3 inch tall aliens play poker on his forehead at night, but no one can see them but him. They tell him that if he tells more than one person they will kill him, so he naturally denies it. . .but he told me, as that one person.

Now, he cannot disprove his insanity since denying the delusion is part of the instructions of his delusion, therefore he must be insane since he can't disprove it.

Correct.

Which is why Christians should act more reasonably with non-Christians, instead of insisting on ruining civil rights & trying to steal government money for their own uses.

That's really my only beef with Xians - their politics. Heck, I don't care if they make a leap of faith. Just... at least have enough doubt so that you can treat others with some respect.
