This is easy to do.

Every time you want to eat, get a big glass of water. While you do your homework, drink water. While you are watching TV, drink water.

If you need something to snack on, try fruit and veggies.

You DO have control over this, and recongizing that you have control is the first step. I have that problem too, but now I'm always busy doing something. I don't just sit on the couch and watch TV while eating popcorn. I do sit ups while I watch TV. I knit. I amuse myself in other ways.

Eat 6 little meals a day. This way you will not be constantly hungry throughout the day and into the night. In the morning, have a big breakfest because it really is the most important meal of the day. It gets you going and gives your body the energy it needs to do activities. Two hours later, have a small snack. Than an hour later have your lunch. Two hours later have another snack. An hour later have dinner. And finally have another snack two hours later. Follow these guidelines for eating and you will not eat.

Food isn't your enemy unless you make it so. Grazing on something tasty when you're bored or doing homework doesn't have to be a bad thing. Just start eating foods that are good for you when you've got the boredom munchies.

Stock your fridge and pantry with things like bananas, grapes, apples, carrots, celery, low fat crackers, peanut butter, low fat popcorn and pretzels. Then when the next snack attack strikes you, dive right in, guilt free.

There is a tree called “Welmee” ( in sri lanken language) mostly grow in Asian countries. When ever you feel need to eat some thing you can chew a small piece of that. They are available in the market as dry pieces. Those are little sweet. One other side effect of that is smoothing your voice. If you are a lady it may very useful for you. I am sorry I do not know the name of that tree in English.

Good question, I am struggling with the same problem, so if you come across a good plan, hook me up!

As for "switz" saying eating is better than smoking, yes and no! yes because it can be more healthy in ways for you, but no because if you eat and eat and eat then all you are doing is gaining weight that isn't needed causing more stress on your organs, heart, lungs, etc. it's called obesity.
