The term for this phobia is Iatrophobia.Personally alot of people are phobic about going to the doctor because of the drama in life about someone going to the doctor for one thing and find out they are dying or someone has had a bad experience with a doctor that wasn't very kind and straight to the point.I personally am scared to death of doctors even nurses and some of my best friends are both..but they make me anxious when im around them because im always afraid they will look at me and say there is something wrong.I have a 87 year old father in law that says he wont go to the doctor no matter what..he is healthy as a horse and walks five to seven miles a day in the tropics and gets around fine..He says to avoid doctors and you will live forever..It seems to work for him.. lol

Some people are born with health problems like myself and have been around doctors and hospitals so much that they are sick of seeing doctors and never want to see them again. They are afraid because they associate their pain with the doctors.

I HATE doctors!!!!!!!!!!!!! If i can put it off - i will, i don't know why.... it's just the whole thing.. the place, the person, the SMELL.. *shudders*
And like someone sort of said, you go to the doctors when you are ill, like when you are having a bad time, so you accociate seeing them - with a bad time which brings back memories and just makes you feel just crappy..

1. They don't want to be poked with needles.
2. They don't want anything poked in any of their orifices (holes)
3. They don't want to be told that their lifestyle is unhealthy (high salt, high fat diet; smoking; excessive alcohol use or drug use) - they'd have to change.
4. They don't want to find out that they have a serious disease that could mean a shortened life or lifelong treatment.

Because they sedate you then do anal probes for the Governmant without your knowledge.
