I'm a 40 yr old female. I have madalungs deformity and had bones removed from a foot because of osteomylitis. A few years ago the pain spread to other spots. I saw a rheumatologist who did x-rays and bone scans. They showed some osteoarthritis, a bit of degenerative spinal disease, arthritis in various points, abnormal wear in one hip, bone chips in one knee (both knees have arthritis) calcification in one shoulder etc. The list is long. The rhuematolist said it's nothing autoimmune and go back to my doctor. I don't have a family doctor. I'm in Canada and they aren't available. I'm living on tylenol 1's (over the counter - around 8 a day) because I have no choice. I go to the walk in clinic for meds and there they act like I'm an addict. I live in pain, sometimes unbearable, but the doctors attitude now has me afraid to take ANYTHING. I had a doctor there look at my test results once and his response was "Oh that stuff is nothing." I can't live in pain forever. Any ideas?

See an orthopedist instead of a general practioner. They will be more apt to understand your plight. I don't think you should be taking so much tylenol, that could really damage your stomach. And you really don't want to add to your pain. I am sorry that you are having so much pain. I really feel for you. I, Too have had many problems getting the right doctor to understand my pain. Since I have been seeing an orthopedist, he has helped me alot, hopefully that can be of some help to you. It can't hurt you that's for sure. As far as calcification in your shoulder, you could have it scraped, I am having that done in one month, because the pain is unbearable and I have gone to several doctors about this and they all pooh poohed it. The orthopedist gave me three cortisone shots in the last 6 months and I finally decided to have surgery.
Hope this helps you.Good Luck.

dont feel alone my family docter whom i pay lots of moneys, has not only acted like i am an addict but has also got my pharmicist involved. know why? because i take two lunesta a night instead of one. crap huh. not to mention on my other med i've suggested decreasing everyone of them from the usuall dose. theyre in it for the money not you. try 2 tylonol every 4 hours and 2 motrin 2 hours after the tylonol and every 4 hours from there. this is how my pharmacist mother told me to deal with a pinched nerve in my back. that way your not taking the same thing over and over and you can have twice as much pain reliever without o.d.ing. hope this helps. you can always find something on the streets.people sell theyre meds to pay their rent. i am not saying this is what you should do , just that it is an option. good luck

I have similar problems to yours..
I am sorry to hear of all your suffering..
It took me 2 years to find a doctor that would listen.
I basically walked into the doctor and said this is what I have and I want you to help me...
After trying many different painkillers I ended up on morphine, paracetamol and ibuprofen and a muscle relaxant..
Keep trying to find help... It will be worth it when you have relief.

Try telling the doctor that it IS something and something is PAIN Doctors are supposed to work for you. If this one won't listen please try to find another. Is there a possibility you could go to a pain clinic? Living pain free or close to it is worth the hassle of ignorant people. Please keep trying. Good Luck.

Welcome to the club, I also have unbareable back pain and the doctors say it is just a muscle spasm. I don't understand why they can say that when I'm taking shots in my back, "I mean very painful shots". I have told them if they don't know what they are doing, please recommend me to someone who does, I told my insureance company what is going on and they tell me, " the doctor is always right".
