no nemo the dodge diesel is built by cummins not ford, dodge also owns detroit diesel as well.powerstroke are built by international. the 7.3 was a better engine than the 6.0,or the upcoming 6.4. theres more options you can do to a 7.3,easier to work on ( some models of 6.0 have the oil filter on the top of the engine,7.3 kept it on the side) also shortly after its roll out ford had to recall virtually all 6.0 due to defects

Not everyone is a diesel tech. I've never had a problem with a 7.3 leaking oil.
It's not really Ford's fault either way. Ford just installs the engines. Navistar builds them.
It doesn't really matter what the 6.0 does, Ford and Navistar are replacing it with a 6.6L twin turbo V8 for the 2008 MY.

The 7.3L is an oil leaker yes. But like the other post states, the 6.0L is a turbo eater, EGR carbon magnet, high pressure oil system leaker, just to name a few. If you think the 6.0 is B.S. to work on, wait 'till the 6.4L comes out. Can you say, "cab off every service"? How about 6.0L E-series ambulances? Don't you just love them?

Are you insane? Sure the 6.0L base engine is good, but we've been doing EGR coolers, Oil coolers, Oil Leaks, IPR leaks, Head gaskets, coolant leaks, Turbo's and EGR valves religiously. They pretty much keep 3 of our techs busy all the time. Reliablility wise the 7.3 is a much better engine, and simpler to fix.

6.0L is hard to repair and won't last as long as 7.3L
For Ford the best engine was the 300, 400, and for power was the 460

i have drove both, i transported cars for a while and i drove a 2004 6.0 dually and a 99 f-250 7.3. the 7.3 tended to last longer and due to the better parts pulled stronger longer, just my opinion as well as most of my cattle owning friends

yes the 7.3 is a a little bit better engine because ford has been able to get the bugs out and it is simpler to fix
