when coming up to an intersection and you want to turn right on red, yet the 'stellar' driver in front of you, stops at the light wanting to go straight, and at the same time stops in the middle of lane so there is not enough room for you to be able to make a right on red.
most times the the other lane that goes straight is empty and could have been occupied the 'stellar' driver, thus letting traffic flow around him . one would have to actually pay attention to what was happening around him while driving. now the question: what should the penalty be for 'stellar' driver??????

A smack upside the head LOL. Bugs the piss out of you don't it. To many driver think of no one on the road but themselves. How about a little wave thanks when you give someone a brake and let them in.Or get up to Highway speed before you want/ need to get on the highway. Merging onto a highway at 35 mph while everyone is doing 60 well you do the math its not going to work. You could write a book on this. Get off the phone put down the make up stop eat ting those fries and hamburger and just drive please

Legally, there can be no penalty against the 'stellar' driver unless it's a right turn only lane, in which case it's an infraction if the driver goes straight in the lane.

Now that the legalese is out of the way, the penalty should be a horn honk and even a middle finger if there are no little kids around. We must live in the same area, because I encounter that same 'stellar' driver most every morning and it really ticks me off! Some days I wish I had a crap car like a '72 Pinto or something so I can rear end said driver and puch the offending car into the intersection. ;-)

Seeing as how the "stellar" driver is stopped at a red light, he is not actually interfering with the flow of traffic. As long as the lane he is in is not marked as a turn only lane, he has every right to go foward from whichever lane he chooses to be in.

well, sometimes drivers stay in that lane because they are going to turn right somewhere next block...just let it go and think that you are a much better/understanding driver. my question: what should be the penalty for the "stellar drivers" that pass a yellow light when there will not be a green left arrow for the ones that are in front?? That should be punished!!!

You should just wind down your window and smell the fumes... This offence is far less annoying than the driver that pulls out into the left hand lane, or the person that drives in the left lane at 10 mph below the speed limit. In the real world, the right hand lane is for driving, the left for passing, but the left hand lane hand turned into the "Me!" lane.

Phase 1: May turn right on red after stopping.
Phase 2: "I don't stop for stop signs if it's clear, so I don't have to stop at the red light if I'm going to turn."
Phase 3: "What the...?!! You have the red light and you're stopping?! Keep moving!!" (leans on horn)
Phase 4: "Why doesn't he move over to the passing lane if he's going straight?!! Doesn't he know it's his duty to look at my turn signal and get out of my way so I don't have to stop for this red light?!!"

You are now an official spoiled child. You are to be restricted to a moped, if that, until you mature, if ever. Or at least until you learn to wipe your own runny nose and don't need mommy's help to go potty.

A lust to make money regardless of the consequences to others. Money comes before EVERYTHING else. As for other posters here talking about honor and the family etc. all I can say is that they obviously have never spent any time in China. If they had done they would realise that these beliefs are completely wrong. Honor, integrity, truthfullness etc. etc. simply does not exist in the Chinese charecter. Dont believe the lies you have been told about the Chinese people, they have no place in the civilised world.

Well, you should come experience the intersection of death. Its right outside the tech college I go to. The world collection of bad drivers travels through there all day, every day. I almost get hit EVERY time I go through there. Its one of those "tricky" plain green lights, where you have to yield to the people going straight. My car is nice and beat up, so I just keep going, cutting the fuc ks off. They can either avoid me, or get hit! Its funny watching them when they realize they're an as shole!

prohibiting the flow of traffic and it is actually a traffic violation, but i don't think you could charge the stellar driver with it although you should be able to. it often refers to slow drivers or broken down vehicles
