Hm, I dont know what you mean by 'professional' because I dont know what you do. I think that if they're longer then to the bottom of your ear then it doesnt look to good. I'd say keep them maybe to middle/half of your ear. My brother's sideburns are about to the middle of his ear, but I dont cut his ears out. Yesterday on Leno I saw Panic! at the disco. Brendon's sideburns were wayy long. I'd have to say they look strange but I guess in that industry you can get away with anything. But again, I'll tell you that from the bottom of your ear and up is a good place to have your sideburns.

Long sideburns or a beard, it doesnt matter as long as they are perfectly groomed. Its Christmas, make sure someone stuffs your stocking with some implements to keep your facial hair impeccable.
You could also put conditioner on them a couple of times per week, the tend to get dry and crunchy from washing your face.

I dont think your sideburns are too long but they would look unprofessional if they were thick and very wide but if you keep them kinda tappered like when you go get your hair cut then it might look kinda sexy or should I say very becoming, warning DO NOT SPORT EXTREME THICK SIDE BURNS, that aint hot

for many professions long facial, or any facial hair projects laziness or a bum... imagine how bad some peoples facial hair can get.............................looks like a bum on the curb right? now would you want that bum representing the company you have busted *** for? nope. in the army it cannot pass the bottom of the hole in your ear. but if you wanna take it past there make sure it is close to the face, and neat. noone can say something to a handsome man!

Depends on what you do for a living. What you described seems unprofessional.

Professional = well manicured. If they are tapered well I'm sure you'll be fine especially if that's how your hair grows naturally, go for it!
