Go to "Run", and type (copy&paste) this, "%windir%" without the quotes. This should open a foilder in the windows explorer. DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING HERE! Now find the program you want a shortcut to (can be in the programs menu, or on your hard drive). Right-click-drag from the program's icon to the folder that just opened in the first step. You can rename it whatever you want. Close the window, and the shortcut should work from the run menu now

Got something better, short keys, how to make them. Go to your pop menu or desk top icons, right click, choose Properties. The middle tab called Shortcuts, click on that. You will see a window that says Shortcut Keys. You got two options, assign a Function Key (i.e. F3, F6 through 10) don't use F1 (that will launch Help), F5 refreshes the window, and don't use F11, that makes you browser go to full screen. Let's say you don't want to use a Function Key , you can use a alphabetical key. Say W for Word. The block will add in Ctrl+Alt+W. Click Apply then ok. To use it hold down Control and Alternate, while pushing the W key.

Yeah, sort of, i guess.
Start - Programs - (whatever app you have there).
Right click on the app shortcut and Copy.
Then right-click Paste it into the Startup folder.
Don't get carried away, this can really slow down your bootup.
