Please, if you can, try to avoid citing anything by Richard Dawkins or Sam Harris. They have plenty attention right now. I am interested in good atheological arguments, like those by George Smith, Michael Martin, J. L. Mackie, etc. Thanks!

Great question...
Many Christians do not seem to understand where morals come from if not God. I recommend Michael Shermer's "The Science of Good and Evil."

We would like for you to study the History of Civilization on this planet at a college (not a religious one). You will learn the facts about some of the things that the religions hide from it's followers. Like, for thousands of years during Egyptian Culture, God was always considered to be a woman, called Goddess. A fact that the religions can't change so, they hide it. About the time that Judaism got it's start God was changed into a man. The people were subservient and were told to believe that God was a man. Investigate Zoology where you will learn that 2 of every species of living things on this planet weighs close to 100 million tons. Noah would have to build an Arc a mile long. Yet people are told that this story is the truth and the word of God when it is not. There is lots more that religion hides from the followers in order to serve their dogma. I won't go into it.

Many Christians have serious misconceptions about science and human behavior. Few people can do it but there is one book that is like electrical schematics for behavior. The book teaches precise scientific definitions of terms, discusses scientific experiments that can be copied (replicated), and shows fascinating examples of research in action, including how to teach pigeons how to guide missiles into battle ships. It's real, it's heavy duty. The book is called: The Analysis of Behavior and it was written by James G. Holland and B. F. Skinner.

WARNING: Once you read this book you can never be ignorant about the topic again. Giving up ignorance may result in giving up bliss.

"Under The Banner Of Heaven" by Jon Krakauer is an excellent book about the inseption, migration and beliefs of the Mormon church.
The book is written as a novel but is centered around a modern day family, it is very well researched and facinating.
It is not written to try to demonize the Mormon Church it is just historically written and factual.
(Mormons are Christians contrary to popular belief)

The bible, every stinking word of it, both old and new testaments. And a decent history and analysis of when it was created, and by whom. I am getting so tired of the Xtians claiming stuff that just is not true about their own book.
A quiz on the major points of the book to follow.

The Bible. I think it's enough to disbelieve the book on its own merits.
