As Cervantes wrote, the road is better than the inn. Spanish proverb: the road that leads to Paradise is itself Paradise.
It is the journey, the travel, the adventure one finds things, this quote was a favorite of the great 50' 60's author Jack Kerouac
"Lonesome Traveler", "On the Road" who inspired a generation of youth to go out into the world with a clear vision.
It is Mark Twain's Huck Finn heading down the Mississippi River.
It was to my generation "The 60's" when we had so much hope
and felt certain we could make a difference: we tried and did much. The road is still there and the quote should inspire all
to take that journey.

The anticipation. The feeling that things will be better once we get there is always better than the actual reality once we actually arrive. When we quit a job and think how much better the new one will be. When we are getting ready to move to a new city, how much better the weather will be, how nice the new neighbors will be. We always tend to think of the positives and how we will leave behind all the bad things. That interim period is the "road".

The travelling is better than reaching the destination.
By extension, life (travelling) is better than death ('rest' at the inn).

Too many expect the goal to be the destination whereas its the path toward one's goals that one should cherish.
