Each state has some method where you can search for an inmate over the Internet. With most, its their Department of Corrections. In Texas, its the Department of Public Safety.

Check the website to locate which prison. Then visit the Dept of Corrections website for that state to seen the visitation rules for that prison.

Corrections often transfer inmates from prison to prison. For instance, a person sent to prison to serve 30 years, may serve the first few months at a RECEIVING CENTER where they are classified to determine which prison to sent them to. As they serve their time, if they do not get into trouble in the prison, they earn points that allow them to move from MAX SECURITY to MEDIUM SECURITY to LOW SECURITY facilities.

ALSO states have reciprocal agreements. Say my family is in Maryland, but I commit a crime in Virginia. I can petition Virginia to transfer me to Maryland's Department of Corrections so I will be closer to my family. This is frequently done.

Well most inmates have visiting hours so if you are willing to go to Oklahoma, you should be able to see him. I know that a lot of prisons have websites which have full inmate listings...you could go that route. Otherwise, call the prison. It doesn't hurt to ask!

You should be able to call the Oklahoma Department of Corrections in Oklahoma City. They will tell you which prison he is in and other info you might want, such as release date, charge, or something not personal. Actually OK has a website to search offenders it is: http://www.doc.state.ok.us/
Good luck

Yes it is possible to call and see if your step dad is in prison. All you have to do is call and know his dob. They will tell you if he is in that facility or not. And If he isn't they will give you the name, and address of where he is.However you will have to write him and get him to send you a visitation request and you fill that out with photo copy of your state id and you send it back and give them time to approve it. And they will let him know if your approved or not. If you are most facilities have schedules you have to go by. and you go from there. Good luck. I hope everything works out!

Sure, try and see what happens. Perhaps someone that answers the phone can give you advice on where else to look for your father.

Good luck.
