My son is in sixth grade and with the SIDS epidemic I am worried he will catch it so I have him wear one of those surgical masks to school. Is there anything else I can do to keep him better protected?

I think you mean somthing else. SIDS only affects infants. Did you mean SARS? I hope not, I thought that was all gone!!!

Do you mean SARs or RSV?
The RSV isn't to worry about since he isn't an infant.
The SIDS isn't to worry about since he isn't an infant.
and the SARs...Stay away from ill chickens or countries that have it.

unless you live in an area where SARS is really an issue or travel to those areas, I think that you need to look at this realistically. It is highly unlikely to catch the disease in the US.

Put him on his back to sleep, they really don't know what causes SIDS, but are doing study to see if it is sleep apnea in babies. They have a web site with lots of information, check it out.
