it all depends on how he was fdoing it... at dinner or something, without excusing himself, yes, i think its okay...
but just one of those ones where your watching t.v., and they slip out??... no, these are normal body functions, and he shouldnt be punished for them as long as he is polite about it, and excuses himself... besides, he is young, all boys that young are a little gross at times lol.

i need more info to tell you if it is okay. obviously it has been an issue in your household because normal farting doesn't end up with a spanking. if your 7 year old was being disrespectful or disobedient over the farting and was told to do it in private and doesn't then he doesn't deserve to be disciplined. he must learn to be obedient.
i am sure he knows how to get up and leave the room, go to the bathroom, or if it slips to say a quick excuse me.
if he is just spanking because he doesn't like farting and this is a rare occurance then you need to speak up as a mother and do something.
take care. SD

Shane (can this really be your name if you are asking about your husband?) - I don't think it is okay. In my opinion nobody should hit or spank children. And really, is farting that serious a crime? I think not. Tell him to get his kicks down a boxing ring or something not on your 7 year old.

On the face of it - no its not OK, far from it. If your child is being deliberately rude and obnoxious and doing it as an act of rebellion then its up to you how you punish your child, but if your husband is spanking him for a perfectly normal bodily function, that sounds like child abuse.

Spanking is abuse regardless of what the punishment is for.
Passing wind is natural and usually uncontrollable, especially in a 7 year old. Your husband's temper is controllable

It is perfectly natural to fart as part of the digestion process. So no, it's a bit like spanking him for having a pee.

certainly, are you specific it substitute into in basic terms a "general spanking"? i do no longer think of a mild spank on the butt to snap a hysterical new child out of that's abuse, yet while your son would not even prefer to be touched by employing his father long after the incident, that does subject me, while you evaluate that truly isn't a classic reaction to a classic spanking. extraordinarily a three year old, maximum infants that age could forget approximately with regard to the incident after a couple of minutes and be nice. a toddler could could desire to be exceptionally traumatized to cry each time somebody tries to touch them. you need to exceptionally communicate on your husband and discover out what truly occurred. it ought to be that he lost his temper and took it somewhat too a techniques (that's why you on no account spank a new child once you're indignant).

If he farts on accident- No, but if he's being a brat and farting on purpose, then maybe... when i was young i would lay on the floor and watch t.v. and my lil brother would come over and fart on my face! on purpose! He was a brat that way! so i kinda get mad when people fart on purpose. But i wouldnt spank my kid for that!

NO! that is not ok!
unfortunatly passing wind is a bodily function we and more so children have not much control over.
explaining to your son that it can cause offence and send him out the room when he needs to pass wind would be a better option.
