I just had one cut out yesterday. I can't remember if they said no orange juice (or other citric juices) and soda for only the first 24 hours or for the time I have the stitches.

I tried to call the office but the line was busy each time I tried.

Anyone know??

I don't see why you can't have any liquid you want....just don't drink it out of a straw which can dislodge the clot. That is the only problem with liquids and smoking. BTW, dry socket is when the clot is dislodged and the bone is exposed in a fresh extraction site. Ouch.

Probably just the first 24 hours, although personally, I'd give it 48 hours. You do NOT want to blow the clot out of there and get a dry socket; they HURT. Same thing for using a straw for the first 48 hours. Stick with mild stuff for another day; it's well worth giving up a juice or a soda to keep from having complications.

I ate almost anything. I had 3 wisdom teeth extracted out through surgery. But, if you experience triggering/acute pain in the wound, then don't take what has been mentioned. Your wound should heal in less than 1 week. ;>

You should probably leave all the acid drinks alone for the 24hrs and if you smoke don't you can get a dry socket, and that a pain you'll never forget.
