WASHINGTON - Sen.
John Kerry, whose botched joke about U.S. troops in
Iraq dealt a blow to his presidential ambitions, will travel to Iraq this weekend to meet with soldiers, political leaders and military officials.

"I've talked to plenty of guys who've come back from Iraq, who are there now, who understand exactly what happened," Kerry said of his joke in a telephone interview Tuesday with The Associated Press. "They laugh at it."

The Iraq stop will be part of a nine-day Mideast trip that includes stops in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon,
Syria and
Israel.

A week before the midterm elections, Kerry told a group of California students that individuals who don't study hard and do their homework would likely "get stuck in Iraq." He said he meant to say "get us stuck in Iraq," but the botched joke intended to criticize
President Bush forced the senator to apologize and then lay low for the remaining days of the campaign.

It will be a great photo op for him. The troops are not allowed to show disrespect to him (as he is a member of our government) under penalty of the Uniform Code of Military justice. The media will get plenty of good shots of soldiers keeping their opinions to themselves and it will look like they actually like the guy. Even if the troops DO disrespect him, the media will only show the good parts. The media is very much against the war and will do anything to make the people who oppose the war look good. Mark my words; this is exactly how this will happen.

I suppose he is. He really needs to make several public apologies to our military for his comment and I still would not forgive him. These people and their families are making sacrifices on a daily basis, how dare he say what he said. I doubt any one serving over there took it as a joke. Some thing they are working so hard for in such a bad situation isn't a joke to them or this country.

Kerry is desperate to patch things up with the public but He will manage to make another mistake. It would not surprise me if he stopped off the plane and said something really dumb. Guess He is trying to get some of Iran's money during his visit to Syria. He enjoyed the communist backing for attacking the Gi's in Nam now he is probably going there to collect for his attacking them again. Guess he is looking for more abuses by the people defending this country. Could be his wife wants to get rid of him.

Kerry is dumber than Bush as proved by their GPA's at Harvard. So since Kerry is such a dumba$$, it wouldn't surprise me that he's visiting the troops that hate him. Our troops are some of the best and brightest people in the US. Kerry on the other hand is the polar opposite.

Yeah, he is stupid enough and vain enough to think that the soldiers over there believe the lie that it was a joke.
He needs to stay home and interview joke writers.

Don't forget Kerry's a war hero. Leave him alone before people cast stones at you.
